Durack Suite

Suites

Artists have long been captivated by the dramatic beauty and saturated colours of the Kimberley. Sir Sidney Nolan, Elizabeth Durack and Humphrey Price-Jones devoted many of their works to capturing the beauty of the region. In their honour, Cable Beach Club Resort have named their three indulgent suites after them. Colonial and Asian in style, they all feature original artworks of the artist they commemorate, and an eclectic collection of antiques and artefacts.

Outside your window you’ll find another work of art; a view of the Indian Ocean. As befitting suites of this stature, butler service and daily canapes is included.  VIP treatment also includes private transfers.

All of the suites feature garden and ocean views from wide verandahs, a sitting room, dining area and kitchenette. They range from one to three bedrooms all with their own private bathroom. With this kind of opulence it is easy to imagine yourself as one of the great pearling masters’ of Broome.

There are, however only one of each so we would advise you to reserve early to avoid disappointment.

Durack Suite

Elizabeth Durack called the Kimberley region home for many years; her family was amongst the first settlers driving cattle to the Ord River from Queensland in the 1880’s.  Born into this pioneering Kimberley family, Elizabeth Durack was one of the first white painters to adopt indigenous painting techniques and explore Aboriginal themes. Our largest suite reflects her importance to the region. It sleeps six in three double bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. The generous dining and sitting area also features an ornate Chinese wedding bed on which to recline and admire Durack’s work. The adjoining balcony is enormous and makes this suite seem almost as vast as the Kimberley region.

With three bedrooms, an expansive lounge area and huge balconies the suite is exquisitely furnished with antique furniture from India and Asia. It includes a comprehensive framed butterfly collection, original artwork and all the elegance associated with privileged living.
