Cable Beach Club wins four prestigious Tourism Awards for 2007
Published: 31/01/2008

Cable Beach Club Resort will end 2007 with a list of impressive credentials including, ‘Best Resort Style Accommodation’, ‘Luxury Accommodation’, ‘Deluxe Accommodation’ and ‘Best Resort Accommodation,’ to add to its already highly recognised name.

Throughout 2007 the resort won National and State awards which recognise the unique and luxurious range of services and facilities on offer.

The first major win was at the 2007 Australian Hotel’s Association (AHA) National Awards, where the resort won ‘Best Resort Style Accommodation’. Judges for the AHA National Awards were complimentary in their praise of the resort, commenting that Cable Beach Club Resort “is a well maintained resort with friendly customer-focused staff,” adding that “the variety of food and beverage outlets is a big asset and the recreational facilities are in superb condition.”

Following this exciting honor, Cable Beach Club Resort went on to win ‘Luxury Accommodation’ at the 2007 WA Tourism Council Awards.

General Manager of Cable Beach Club Resort, Ron Sedon, was thrilled about winning this impressive title.

“There is no doubt that Cable Beach Club Resort offers a truly unique experience for local, national and international guests visiting Broome and winning these prestigious back to back awards reflects the resorts ability to remain a leader in West Australian tourism.”

As resort management and staff started to descend from the excitement of winning two major titles, Cable Beach Club Resort once again triumphed, this time at the AHA WA Awards for Excellence, where the resort was named best ‘Deluxe Hotel Accommodation’.

This award represents the AHA’s most prestigious state award offered for properties such as Cable Beach Club Resort.

“These three award wins represented a great trifecta for Cable Beach Club Resort as well as representing something of a milestone for the resort in 2007 and in the lead up to the resorts 20th Anniversary in 2008,” adds Mr Sedon.

However apparently not satisfied with just the three titles already received, the resort then went on to succeed at the 2007 Australian Travel and Tourism Awards last Friday night in Queensland where Cable Beach Club Resort won ‘Best Resort Accommodation’. These awards aim to bring both the consumer and industry together, to recognise great Australian travel and tourism products and services.

Western Australia ’s premier resort beat other renowned, mainly eastern states, finalists to win the acclaimed label. Judging was based on voting by readers of The Australian newspaper as well as a panel of expert judges including industry recognised travel editors and journalists.

“Again this is a wonderful achievement that serves as formal recognition of some very hard work on behalf of our staff over the last 12 months,” states Mr Sedon.

Cable Beach Club Resort is the only Resort in Broome overlooking the legendary Cable Beach and provides a diverse range of café, bar and restaurant facilities for guests. A variety of accommodation options at Cable Beach Club Resort includes Studio Rooms overlooking Garden, Pool or Ocean Views, classic Broome style Bungalows, Villas complete with personal butlers, as well as the Resort’s flagship accommodation being the Colonial and Asian styled Suites.

Next year will see Cable Beach Club Resort celebrate its 20th Anniversary, with no better way to enter this milestone year than with a list of four prestigious and impressive award titles. From its humble beginnings, when Lord Alistair McAlpine purchased the resort in 1988, it has grown to become an integral part of the Broome experience.

Purchased by Hawaiian Property Group in 1999, it is the only resort overlooking the legendary Cable Beach . Hawaiian’s General Manager of Operations, Peter Gibbons, says the group’s purchase of the resort was a planned strategic move that has definitely paid off.

“Hawaiian Property Group has and will continue to invest into the resort. Refurbishments are always on the go and are part of an ongoing strategic plan to continue to have Cable Beach Club Resort named the North West’s premier resort and allowing it stand out from tough Eastern States competition,” stated Mr Gibbons.

Winning these four celebrated awards in 2007 means the resort will have the opportunity to present itself nationally in other industry award events throughout 2008.

General Manager, Ron Sedon, is excited about what doors the 2007 award wins will open for 2008.

“Since opening in 1988 the resort has gone on to become one of WA’s most recognised and loved tourist destinations. Winning these four major awards shows how hard we have all worked in making Cable Beach Club Resort a WA icon, and I have no doubt that 2008 will go on to further reflect our achievements both locally and nationally.”
